who drove more and by how many?

Cam by 20 km.
Let the length of the route be R.
Then R = Z40 + Cx = Zy + C50 and so Cx - Zy = C50 - Z40 = 10
Difference in driving distance, D = (C50 + Cx) - (Zy + Z40)
=> D = (C50 - Z40) + (Cx - Zy) = 2(C50 - Z40) = 20
As the is greter than 0. Cam drove 20 miles more than Zaux.
you got her Chris
whatever the total distance is,doesn't matter-it's always going to be Cam by 20 kilometers.
c1=?
z1=40
c2=50
z2=?
c1+z1=d=c2+z2
c1+40=z2+50
c1-z2=50-40
c1-z2=10
c2-z1=50-40
c2-z1=10
c1-z1= amount Cam drove more than Zaux on 1st trip
c2-z2= amount Cam drove more on return trip
(c1-z2)+(c2-z1)=(c2-z2)+(c1-z1)
(c2-z2)+(c1-z1)=10+10=20
Answer:
20 km
Cam
Nice problem (as was the clock one). I thought this one wasn't possible to do at first.
Chris...it is 8:00 am there,and knowing you,i don't know if you are staying up late,or just waking up!
For that reason, I'm orft for my beauty sleep.
wow :O you'll had a busy time while I was off lazing around and sleeping!
20 kms.. i found the question today only! Quite late..
Seems I'm a little late too. Always going to be 20km whatever the distance travelled.
I would suggest next time using proper distance units, like miles. None of this new-fangled rubbish.
a kilometer? ... must be a new device to measure the murder rate in a particular locale ...
