Ragknot went to a bargain sale in the Mall of Puzzlaria. He claimed half his money had been spent in 30 minutes. He said he was left with as many pennies as he had dollars before, and but half as many dollars as before he had pennies.

Let d be the number of dollars that Ragknot starts with, and p the number of pennies.
Then, in pennies: 100d+p = 2(d+50p)
98d = 99p, i.e. d=99, p=98
So, Ragknot started with $99.98 and ended with $49.99.
(Assuming that in Puzzlaria 1 dollar = 100 pennies like everywhere else).
