The Old Tower

Tower description:
1. 300 ft tall from ground to top of last step.
2. a circular handrail and steps lead from bottom to top.
3. there's one picket in the handrail for each step and they are 1 ft. apart.
4. the diameter of the imaginary cylinder which the handrail twines around is 23 ft. 10 1/2 inches.

The circular staircase has how many steps?

There is not enough information given to answer this question. e.g. what angle are the stairs at - are we to assume 45ยบ?

At the moment can only say at least 300 steps (they'd look like a vertical wall).

Hi Zaux. Then handrail then goes straight up. It doesn't even begin to go round the cylinder.

OR you meant that the one foot pickets were one foot apart vertically, and not along the length of the handrail. i.e. each of the 300 steps is 1 foot high.

No lift? Fairly high steps. Why bother?
