If I lived here, I'd be home by now!
If I drive half-way to my house at 30 mph, how fast do I have to go for the rest of the way to make the average speed for the entire journey of 60 mph?

30 mph
I think it can't be done.
example:
Distance 60 miles
half distance 30 miles at 30mph= 1hr
to average 60mph for whole trip the remainder would need to take zero time!!
regards, Curtis
d - total distance
For argument, let d=60m
d/2 = 30mph*T
30m = 30mph*T
T= 1 hr.
d= 60mph*T
60m = 60mph*T
T = 1 hr.
you've already used an hour going 30miles, and you need 1hr. to avg. 60mhp ... so there's no time left
Can't be done
(probably wrong ... :_) )
It can be done, using a time machine.
If you've traveled halfway at 30 mph, you have to travel to your destination instantaneously (i.e. teleport there) in order to average 60 mph.
Except for the first post, You all got it. It can't be done etc.
You all need to try harder. I can do it.

Unless it's talking about average speed per distance, not time. then it's 90
Anonymous, you're right.
