Looks like this has stumped everyone. So I'll just settle on being the first to post. 42, No?
42? ... hmmmmmmmm ... me thinks you've been sniffing the scotch ... heh heh.
That's close enough for a cigar.
Fire it up ...
Can't believe this has stumped everyone ... would it help if you knew they are guys names?
1.Adam...(need more clues for the rest)
Hi Knightmare ...
good job on Adam ...1 down, 3 to go
when you have more than one "jo", you have ?
right,right...Joseph,ha
keep it coming Zaux
adam
joseph
edward....
sai,how did you get edward?
Edward is not correct
Since this one was not answered completely, here's the solution:
1. + am --> Adam
2. jojojof --> Joseph
3. $a$r$d --> Richard (sorry, just noticed an erroneous "$" on the end ... )
4. in ... not out --> Justin
You wizards are so clever and such good puzzlers that this is one of the few I have posted which was not solved.
LOL, I still don't get the Joseph one.
The extra $ doesn't cause a problem. I would have thought $$$$ard would have been less oblique though.
Although they were words, none were phrases. They are all names.
I think Knightmare did brilliantly well. I didn't get any of them.
OK I get the Joseph (Josef).
I love cryptic crosswords, but you beat me.
