There is 1 good news and 0 bad news.
The first line (good news) says that there is no bad news. So we can skip the second line (bad news)
I concur with Kurt
I love paradoxes... my favorite is, "This statement is false."
I would agree with the above. Since we know there is no bad news, we don't need to read the next bit. But, really both statements negate the other, which gives me the dizzying feeling of paradoxes!
My two cents:
There is one of each.
Both of which negate the other.
Leaving none of each.
Arange it like this
News - none
Good News - none
Bad News - none
The answer is "No news", neither good or bad. So fire the reporter, he slept all day.
Now there's good news.
A new reporter will be on the job tomorrow.
First, there is no bad news. Well bad news is good news for papers who like bad news and not good news so this would be bad news and not good news to them.
Second, there is no good news. Well likewise and vice-versa no good news is good news and not bad news so this bad news is in fact not bad news but good news.
So in summary, I should stop drinking.
:)
I agree with Kurt, Since the first statement states that the good news is that there is no bad news, thus not only negating but also falsifying the second statement, thus we have only Good News. For it to be no news at all, the statement should read: The good and bad news is that there is no good or bad news.
I thought of both solutions, but if the order of the statements indicates the precedence, I agree that the answer has to be 1 and 0. If order does not indicate precedence, then there is no news.
If considered sequentially, the first statement negates the second. If given equal importance, they negate each other ... therefore no news.
Merriam-Webster porclaims "news" to be a report of recent events. Not a good report ... not a bad report ... just a report. So wonder why our "NEWS" people persist in coloring events with their favorite political ideologies. And furthermore ... heh heh ...oh well ... I'm done ...
Typo error in previous message .... meant "proclaims" ... not "porclaims" ... guess I'm a typing wizard ... heh heh1 ....
