Duelling dilemma

There are there duellists. One is very good, one is average and the third is rubbish. What is the best strategy for each of them to maximise their chances of surviving in a three way duel. Assume that they are standing at the corners of an equilateral triangle with sides of length 30 feet. The exact detail isn't important, I'm just trying to cause the focus to be on the real logic problem presented.

This is a classic. I haven't disguised it. I haven't even Googled it.

The good one attempts to shoot the average one first, then the bad one, in order to eliminate the highest threat.

The average one goes for the good one, then the bad one, for the same reasons.

The bad one hides behind a BIG sheet of bullet proof glass that spans his entire corner.

Best shoot at the average.
The average shoots at the best.
The poor shoots at the best.

The poorest shooter wins.

Sorry everyone, I'm going mad, I hadn't meant to post this problem yet. I thought I'd only saved it as a draft. I remembered it while discussing another problem with my dad. I had intended to do more research before publishing. I've now done some research. That's when I realised that I had already published.

It seems there are quite a few variations on this puzzle. These include how many rounds does the duel go on for, the actual probabilities of a duellist hitting his target and whether they fire together or sequentially. I had a hazy idea that this info was needed.

The following is a neat summary of the solution, that is consistent with my hazy memory of it (from a very long time ago): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_way_duel_(puzzle)

My instinct is in accord with the first two posts. But, as the wiki article confirms, I was pretty sure that the weakest one should fire into the ground (if there were multiple rounds). Not sure that I'm happy with that though.

I would suggest that the problem as posted fundamentally differs from the logic problem as posted on wikipedia, due to the fact that the problem as posted does not suggest that they fire in turns, as is done in the traditional logic problem. One could even suppose that the expert marksman has a higher number of shots fired/ time thereby increasing the need for the others to try and eliminate him first.

As posted, all duellists should target the best remaining opponent duellist. i.e. Average target expert, Expert target Average, Rubbish target expert

Hi Cam. I've already apologised for that.

oh, wait, i think i realy got this one:

the rubbish one is anakin, the average is obiwan, and the very good one is dooku.

the rubbish one charges at the excellent one, ignoring the attack plan of the average one. The excellent one fries him with electricity, then flings him in a corner to think about what he's done. then the average starts dueling the excellent, and its all like pew POW clash pow and then he almost kills the average one but then the rubbish one saves the average from beig killed. but then the excellent one cuts the rubbish one's arm off anyway and flings him in a different corner. but then this little green guy comes and beats the excellent guy and saves the other two.

yea so what do you think

If they are all three alive, the poorest shall fire in the air... then the two other must fire at each other since they are the most dangerous to each other.
