On Solving Problems
Tom appeared for a maths exam. He was given 100 problems to solve. He tried to solve all of them correctly but some of them went wrong. Any how he scored 85.
His Score was calculated by subtracting two times the number of wrong answers from the number of correct answers.
Can you tell how many problems he solved correctly ?

He solved 95 problems correctly.
lol that scoring system is kinda weird. I mean, how bad would it be if you found out you have a negative score for a test? lol =D
A friend of mine once got -32 in a test out of 324.. it was +4 for correct and -2 for wrong XD
95 questions were scored correctly and 5 were incorrect.
This is weird, the score should be percentage of the correct answer. If it is not then it may be a mistake to assume that 100 is not the total score that could be achieved. Suppose the total score would be 200. And if his score was 85, he would have missed a lot more.
But id the total score would be 100 for 100 correct then 85 would be the answer he got wrong.
Suppose the total score for 100 correct was 200, like a final test designed to help poor students? Then how many did he miss if he scored an 85?
Boy I messed the second paragraph... my wife was yelling at me. I'll try it again.
But if the total score was to be 100 if he got all correct and 85 was the score he got, then 5 would be the number he got wrong.
95 correct
5 wrong
I used to be on the math team in high school, going to compititions. You answer the questions in order, if you skip one, it's counted wrong, but unanswered questions AFTER your last attempted answers aren't counted. You get 5 points for each correct answer and -9 for each incorrect or skipped questions.
My first time, they failed to tell me about skipping questions.. so i skipped about 20 and answered one that I knew how to do.. I scored about -80..
blah...
