The Trio Puzzle of the Deadly Mushrooms
There's a swamp.
There are 3 mushrooms that block the swamp's road.
Whenever a traveller comes by, they ask a trio of puzzles.
Puzzle 1)
There are five birds sitting upon a rail.
A hunter shoots down 2 of them.
The rest flies away.
How many birds are there left?
Puzzle 2)
There are 4 cats that can catch 4 mice in 4 minutes.
How many cats will there be needed to catch 10 mice in 10 minutes?
Puzzle 3)
There is a row of aeroplanes.
There are 4 in the front,
4 in the back,
and 3 in the middle.
How many are aeroplanes are there total?
If the traveller can't answer any one of them then the mushrooms eat him/her.
Can you solve the puzzles and get through the mushrooms?

The 1st is 2 becasue 3 left so 2 are left dead there. The 2nd is 4 still becasue it said 4 mice so the variable wont change. And the 3rd im not to sure becasue 11 seems to obvious.
Yay 1st post
Yes, I can
Yes, I can
The second Question i think more than 5 cat can catch in 10 minute
Or equal
the first one is none because they all either left or flue away
the second one im not sure of
but the third one is 5

1. the 2 that are dead are still there
2. you only need one cat to catch 10 mice in 10 minutes
3. my answer is 5 but it could be anywhere from 5-11
Yes - I'll go with an answer of '5' for each question. Makes it easier for the mushrooms to score the test.

3)5
The answer to 1) is 2.
He shoots 2 birds so the remaining 3 fly away. The dead birds obviously can't fly so that leaves 2.
The answer to 2) is 4.
The four cats combined catch a mice a minute. Doesn't matter if it is 4 or 10 minutes.
The answer to 3) is 5.
The line looks like this
(f)
(fmb)
(fmb)
(fmb)
(b)
The one in front obviously has 4 behind him (the b's)
The one on the back has 4 in front of him (the f's)
In between the front and the back are 3 planes (the m's)
That makes 5 in total.
Um, the answers are 2[the dead birds] one [one cat can catch one mouse a minute so one can catch ten mice in ten minutes. And five fmmml.
1) None: 2 fell dead to the ground, 3 flew away, so none were LEFT where they were.
2) 4: 4 cats can catch 1 mouse pr minute so 4 cats can catch 10 per 10 minutes.
5) Greater than 4 and less than 12.
1. none (the dead ones can't be sitting in the rail anymore, they're dead, and the rest flew away)
2. 4
3.5
Actually, the third one can be any odd number >=5.
i TOTALLY agree with Papatita on the first one. Obviously, If 2 are dead, the people who shot them would've taken them away or something, otherwise they'd just fall over and tachnically not be on the rail anymore. The other ones flew away so there shouldn't be any confusion with that.
2) 10 (but it seems TOO obvious!!!)
3)ok, i had trouble with this one. I think that it depends which row you're talking about, because a row is a line, in this case, of airplanes, and since it says there are more than one row then it's technically an array. So it depends.
The answers are as follows...
1) none cause they wither got shot or flew away and therefore none are on the rail...
2) 1 cat... why? cause in 4 minutes 4 cats each caught one mouse... so given that a cat can catch a mouse in a minute then, 1 cat...
3)5 becouse of there a line like this...

look at previos post to get it!!!
yes i would be eaten
Papatita is correct in all three.
Question 2 is the only one which has not been properly defined yet -
4 cats catch 4 mice in 4 minutes.
so...
1 cat catches 1 mouse in 4 minutes.
therefore...
1 cat catches 10 mice in 40 minutes.
so divide it out and...
4 cats catch 10 mice 10 minutes.
3 birds left because it didn't say how many birds left on the rail or in that area, it said how many birds left, which means the 3 alive birds are the only ones left.
It takes the cats 1 min per mouse, 4 min for 4 mice, and 10 mins for 10 mice, but it would still be 4 cats!
I think the last is 5 because there are 3 in the middle, and with 4 in the front and back it has to be at least on more than 4.
i think the first one is four because there are the two dead ones and then it says flieS using a singular word meaning only one goes
2) Those who are saying it is 1 (or 10) cats is wrong. It takes all FOUR cats to catch four mice in four minutes. So FOUR cats can catch one mouse in one minute. Thus FOUR cats can catch 10 mice in 10 minutes.
One cat would take 40 minutes to catch 10 mice.
Ten cats would catch 25 mice in 10 minutes.
First off, that was a magic bullet. The first shot would cause the remaining birds to fly off the rail. Bad grammer or hidden messsage, as was stated above, "flies" does not seem to indicate multiple birds flying off, whereas "fly" would. And the final line in question 1, "How many birds are there left?" Left where? On the rail? On the ground? Since it was stated they were sitting upon a rail, this would lead me to conclude there are 0 birds left on the rail.
Clearly it would take 4 cats 10 minutes to catch 10 mice. 4 cats catch 1 mouse in 1 monute.
I don't think there is enough info in question 3 to give an accurate answer.
1) There would be 0 birds left because 2 are on the ground and the remaining 3 flew away.
2) 4 mice can catch 10 mice in 10 minutes because together they can catch 1 mouse per minute.
3) There are 5 aeroplanes in the row because one in the front, three in the middle, and one in the back equal 5.

1)0 because a hunter shoots 2 one leaves (flies duh) and before that one leaves another hunter shoots the other 2 and the dead ones fall off
2)2 cats because each cat can catch 4 mice in 4 minutes this one can catch 8 in 8 minutes so two would make 16 in eight minutes which is in 10 minutes
3) there is only one row and because three fits in four, and the middle front and back are all the same there is 4

parenthesies is the three plus the one on the outside makes 4
DING DING DING I'm the winner and you're in the stomachs of the mushrooms
LOL
The last two comments were just funny, not anywhere close to being right, just funny. Alexander said 5 planes, but drew 11 planes, and only accounted for one in the front and back, when it states 4.
Weed killer. Duh.
