Thanks to the wonderful English language one word has multiple meanings. A blank is also a cut out of something before it has been put through a mold. For example when they are making coins they have a sheet of which ever metal is being used. They then punch out small discs which are called blanks. For someone to literally "draw a blank," they simply need to draw a circle.

Of course a blank can also be any other shape too since it's not limited to circles.

Also the Draftsman who designed the Blank Bullet would have drawn the blank for it to be manufactured.

Obviously the first step in drawing a "blank" is for eveyone to agree what a "blank" is...quite elusive...

"Blank" as a noun refers to a void space. As a adjective it means free from writing, prints or marks. Both of which are very hard to "draw".

"Blank" as a verb means to make void and annul. To do that you would simply draw (or strike) a line through what ever you wish to void or annul.
