The first thing is that this shape is not a perfect 13x5 triangle. There is a point on the slope that bulges out or in depending on how the shapes are placed.

Consider this; if you place one above the other, you will see a little sliver on the slope of the "triangle". That little sliver is where the extra square came from.

Because player 1 (or the top triangle) was more skilled then player 2 (the bottom triangle) at tetris.

Hint: calculate the slope of the hypotenuse of the green and red triangles.

The long line, that makes up two hypotenuses, is not a straight line. If it was, the total area would be 32.5.

But in the "before" picture this line flexes inward, at the two large triangles, giving the area of the parts, 32.0.

In the "second" picture the line flexes outward. The area of the parts is still 32 of course, but the large triangle (with the outward flex is 33.

The total area of these long slender triangles make the difference of 1 square unit as they flex in or out.

they are the same pattern because of the peice that is missing makes it the same so now all the shapes are the same

while all of u had good statements none of u ansered the question truelythe reason the "hole" is in the second one is because the red and green were swiched, the red now on top and the green now in front of the triangle made the triangle both not tall enough and not long enough. if u look close u will note that the red triangle is 3 blocks longer and 1 block taller than the green one. to compensate for this the yellow block is moved down one and over 3 to have the top of the yellow and light green shapes flat. because the thin end of the yellow shape is 3 blocks long and the thin end on the green shape 2 blocks long there is a one block "hole" left over.

easy, the orange bar is longer than the green bar (going horizontally)

How is it possible?
The orange bar is flipped so you can't really fill in all of the spots.

half of the triangle is missing because the second figure is 1 unit taller (1/2 base x width); the other half is because the hypotenuse is not a straight line, it fills more space on the second triangle than the first.
