Poison Apple
if there is 5000 apples and one apple is poison and you have 20 poison testers. you have 3 weeks to find out which apple is poision and it takes 1 week for the poision to kill you. how do you find out which one is poision?

Each tester takes a bite of a different set of 250 apples. A week later, I know which set contaings the poison one. (Of course, all of my apples now have a bite missing. That sucks.) My 19 remaining testers each takes a bite of a different set of 14 apples from the set of 250 that contains the poisoned apple. One week later, I know which set of 14 contains the poisoned one. 14 of my remaining testers each sample one of the apples in the poisoned set. One week later, I know which apple was poisoned. The 4 testers that did not have to sample in the last round are so thankful that they agree to bury the three testers that died and dispose of all of the now half eaten apples that have begun to rott.
you can assign each tester a number from 1 to 20... than you the binary thing again... But I think it's a trick question... You end up either with bad apples (rotten), or no apples at all, because they have been eaten up.
Second, how much poison does it take to kill someone?

you only have three weeks before the big party!
make the 20 poison tester sell those apples make a profit, no1 dies (that u know) and eveyr1 is happy
why don't you just throw all of the apples away since the testers are going to take a bite out of each one, and then they would just rot and become inedible.
maybe the testers are forensic testers, who can test the chemicals in the apples. In which case, you could assign each tester to 250 apples.
No-one dies, the apples don't have bites in them.
THEN:

or you could eat the apples, and find out which is poison.. because you're dead..
OR if its like snow white, let the other apples rot, and the poison one should be left..

you have all the testers finish in two weeks, keep their apples separate, by the third week one of them is dead, then you take his apples to a lab to be tested to find out which one killed the tester.
wait 4 weeks and see wich tester is dead

Don't eat no apples. Eat Donuts. They very good. Or hire 5,000 people and give them free apples. Then run away to Fiji so the cops don't blow ya apart!
i think the first person was right.
however, what i do not understand is this;
why 5000 apples?? i mean, really? and why don't you just throw them all away if one is poisoned, b/c by the time you figure out which one is poisioned, they'll all be rotting and gross.
And how do you know only one is poisoned???
