Depends how you view the axis of rotation- from the top its clockwise- from the bottom its ACW.

It could be both depending on how you look at it. But does it really matter when the girl is dancing for you?

its the exact same as the coriolus effect if you look at her from the bottom it looks like she is spinning counter clock but if you look at her from the top then she is spinning clock. she is really only spinning in one direction but when your perspective changes they way she spinins seems to change and what kind of a dancer is this chick she only spins she is not very good is she.

Good things come to those who wait.. Well not always. But sometimes the more you watch something the clearer it becomes.. It's spinning both ways. Watch it a little longer and you will see it switch directions.

The picture is not spinning.

The spin is an illusion. The individual pictures that are presented can not relate what might
be moving toward you are away from you, so any conception of either direction is just an optical illusion. With a slight change in your preception, the precieved direction can change.

I'm familiar with clockwise (the same direction that hands on a clockface normally move) and counterclockwise (the opposite of clockwise). What the hell is anti clockwise?

anti means opposite, so anticlickwise means counter clockwise, anyway you already have missed the point

i have watched this and seen the dancer change, in the middle of a rotation, between clockwise and anticlockwise. i then noticed the reflection on the bottom which only appears at one poind during the rotation, and as far as my eyes can tell, it should be on the round the back turn, so i would say that she is dancing an an anticlockwise direction, as the reflection at the bottom of the image goes in an anticlockwise direction

Anticlockwise to her left. You know this because of the reflection on the classy-surfaced ground. This is not a shadow, since shadows would look different.

The rotation is actually incomplete either way you perceive it.

One of the biggest influences of perception comes from the size of the feet in relation to the distance from the vertical mid-line.

If you look closely, you will recognize that the foot always gets smaller as it approaches the mid-line. When you apply these physics, the dancer cannot be truly spinning. And once you can force your mind to perceive the foot as getting larger after it crosses the mid-line, you will be able to easily control the rotation perception.

from everybody Ragknot right. It is just an illusion, and like HOF-Diggity specify the ideea of rotation.the illusion it is made by the continously size changing of the picture and the rest is like the windshild wipers fliping from left to right and back......and a little bit of shaking for the illusion to look more real.

it amazes me that people turn it into such a complicated thing. There is no mathmatical answer to this People. its an illusion! Use your eyes. for a while she spins on her left leg in anti. Then she shifts to her right leg in clockwise. her hands also tell you whats going on as well. If shes spinning on her left leg the left arm goes up, right leg, right arm goes up. its a matter of observation!! so again....both...left leg spin= anti, rightleg spin= clock

Anti-Clockwise. The mirrored image says so. When the left leg points to our side is not visible on the floor (mirror).

Ok it IS an optical illusion. The dancer is actually just flipping back and forth on the screen. Since most people are going to look at her dead center, she will appear to spin because you have one dominant eye. Look where she and her shadow meet and concentrate on there while using peripheral vision to watch the picture you will see it just flipping back and forth.

My fiance and I both watched her at the same time and saw her going in both directions at the same time. Direction depends on which eye is dominant.
