End of Days

21 ST December 2012 is the End of Days according to Mayan Calendar. It also mention about that the turning point would be a year with minimum number of days.

Starting on Jan 1 and ending on Dec 31, what is the minimum number of days in ten years before 2012? How about in any given ten years ?

Usually a 10 year span contains 3642 or 3643 days, depending on if there are 2 or 3 leap years.
In the ten years from 1/1/2003
to 12/31/2012 there are 3643 days.

Because 2100 is not a leap year, there are 4, ten year scenarios with only one leap year rather than two or three. The first one begins in 2093. Then there are only 3641 days in that span.

The question says from Jan 1 to Dec 31. Defined that way a year is a day short. A year is from Jan 1 to Jan 1 the next year (not Dec 31 the same year).

For the 3rd Anon. a year is from 12am jan. 1st to 11:59pm Dec. 31st. Not jan. 1st to Jan. 1st.

If you take the count that there's 3 leap years then you would get 3647 days. If only 2 leap years then you would get 3648.
(365*8=2920)+(364*2=728)=3648
(365*7=2555)+(364*3=1092)+3647
It's not possible to get only one leap year or 4 leap years. so 3647 is the minimum amount of days.
