Wot's my Spot?
Three blondes apply for a job but the manager can't decide between them which one should get the job so he gives them one final test:
He takes each of them in to a room and tells them that he is going to put a spot on their forehead. He says "It is going to be either a black spot or a white spot and you are not allowed to ask anyone what colour it is". After administering these instructions and placing a white spot on each of them, he asks them to sit down in the interview room together so they can each see the other two candidates. He says to them "If you can see at least one white spot, please raise your hand". They all raise their hand. "ok, now put down your hands and no talking. The next one who can raise their hand and tell me for definate what colour spot they have on their head will get the job. After a short pause, one woman raises her hand and declares "I definately have a white spot". She got the job, but how did she know?....

She knew because they all put their hands up when he asked if they could see a white spot. This would mean that since they either had to have a black spot or white spot (as the man mentioned earlier), the least amount of white spots would be two.
So the woman must have been able to see one black spot and one white spot or two white spots. To know
If she could only see two white spots, then if one of the other candidates could see only black and one white spot, they would have said their's was white, since there has to be a minimum of two whites.
No one said anything which means there where no black ones. So she knew hers was white.
The trick here is “After a short pause” mentioned in the question. As all three know that atleast there are two white spots and after the final question no one replied that means everyone seeing two white spot in other tow.
This gave the hint to the smartest of three to make her definite answer that she has white spot.
I think only leaving a short pause is a bit risky because remember who we're dealing with here.
The one that got the job has gambled on the other two being able to work out quickly which colour they have.
And at the end of the day it was only for a job, so it was maybe worth a punt, but if it was for something serious, like shopping vouchers, I don't think she'd have been quite so hasty.
Remember all four had a white spot, he sat them down so they could see the other TWO candidates, why couldn't they see three? Because they were in front of a mirror, the blond recognized herself in the mirror. Lydia
Read the question. It says THREE blondes, not four.
I agree with rejeev.
I could've sworn someone else posted this quite a while ago, just instead of "3 blondes looking for a job", it was "3 wise men that a king wanted as an advisor, and if they got it wrong they got killed", or something to that effect :P.
the whole killing idea would stop the men hastily guessing which colour they had.
what did them being blonde, or the poster for that matter, have to do with anything??
because she is not a real blonde !!
Well, it looks like the first dude was on the right track. The clue is in the pause....
Because they all know they can see at least one white spot, a person who could see one white and one black would have put their hand up immediately, because she would have known straight away that she had a white spot. So, because no one put their hand up immediately, that left the only other option being that they all had white spots. Still a bit risky, since we are dealing with blondes here, but it paid off in this case :P
Q: Why did the blonde stare at the orange juice?
A: Because it said "Concentrate"
I'm a blonde, and I found that answer to be obvious.
What is the difference between a black spotlight and a white spotlight turned off???
