What was the last year in which someone could have been born, in order to live in a year which was the square of their age ?

Yes, but if they were born 1980 (and live long enough) they WILL be 45 in 2025. That is, if they live long enough. The square of 46 person would have to be born i 2070, so we'll wait some time for that...
Yes, but I believe that traditionally in China and other Eastern Asian cultures one is considered to be "1" at the time of birth (and in some traditions would reach an age of "2" at the next "new year").
Thus, someone born in this tradition in 1981 could be considered 45 in 2025.
Assuming today 2008.09.15 is the latest date possible for this person to be living, because we do not know if the person would be alive tomorrow, a person born on Oct 22, 1964 would now be his age squared. So the answer is 1964. I think.

He could be born was 1980, and at the age of 45, the year would 2025.
But can the "last year" be sometime in the future? There are solutions for ever year of age. Suppose he was born in 9900, and lived to be 100 in the year 10,000.

I think for "now" the date of birth would be 1980, but after 2070there would be a new answer.

I will try again. The question does not require whole numbers for the persons age. Since fractions are permitted, and since we want the most recent year the person would have been born in, we simply need to take the sqrt of 2008. Result is the age the person is now which is 44.810713. From today, move back in time the total number of days this person has been alive, and that puts you in 1964. So a person born in 1964 and who is now 44.810713 years old (assuming 365.25 days per year) would be living in a year that is his age squared.
Surely 2007 because 1^2=1
?
This of course depends on what age you're assuming the person will live to. If someone was born in 9900 they may live to be 100 when its the year 10000.
