Old Coin

A self proclaimed expert on the value of rare coins goes to a collectors exhibition. There, he sees, admires, and finally purchases a single silver coin for one million dollars. On the coin's face was the head of some dude, and the tail, a leaf kinda thing. What seemingly made this coin so valuable was the date etched on it: 210 B.C.
He returns home with his new prize, sits on the couch and relishes in his newest and finest investment; only to realize, after some logic, that he has been bamboozled.

How does he know?

Because the creator of the coin would've had no idea that it existed 210 years before Christ. The coin was completely fake.

Because in 210 B.C. the people wouldn't of known that it was 210 B.C.

It was a canadian coin. B.C. = British Columbia. Not sure what the 210 is. But the leaf is the main thing on Canadian currency.

B.C. or A.D. are not put on currency because it has no relevance. If a historian wanted to date the coin they can do so, but when a coin maker wants to date a coin they must put the current date on it. Ergo, they wouldnt put B.C. on the coin because it is a current date. Not a historical date. Also, that guy should understand that no piece of silver is worth 1 million dollars. No matter how old it is.

because the julian calendar (the one most of the world uses today, and the one we are talking about here)wasn't created until 46 BC by Julius Caesar. which means there where no way the creator of the coin could know what year it was in the the julian calendar.

:) simple

They don't date coins from B.c., those dating systmes weren't use back. That is a more modern way at looking at things in the past before the birth of christ.
