He had a bull, for a total of 18 cattle. The first son got 9 cattle, the second 6, and the third 2, leaving 2 cattle for something else, probably to pay off debts.

He had 17 cattle total

1/2 = 8.5 round up to 9
1/3 = 5.6 round up to 6
1/9 = 1.8 round up to 2

9+6+2 = 17

lmao i read this b4
its reworded buh the answer is the same
heres the answer

a neighbour adds 1 more cattle makin it 18 in total
first son gets 1/2 aka 9
2nd son gets 1/3 aka 6
3rd son gets 1/9 aka 2
add 9 6 and 2 and you get 17
take out the remainder one and return it to the neighbour.
